Suspended Glass Wall and Glass Canopy

The ideal solution for a large wall opening: the suspended glass assembly.  The glass wall, acting as one unit, hanging from the head of the structure, not only provides a transparent, weatherproof membrane, but also acts as a structural wall.  The wall may be interrupted by tempered glass doors or revolving doors to provide access where required.

Lateral support against wind loads is provided by glass stabilisers or "fins", which are attached to the façade by patch fittings.  The fins and glass lites are designed to be structurally self supporting.  In order to suit site conditions, the fins, located at each vertical joint, can be continuous or cantilevered and fixed at either ceiling or floor.

Provision is made for both horizontal and vertical structural deflection and thermal expansion.  Heavy wind loads can be accommodated by reducing vertical joints and/or increasing the size of the fins.  InKan's in-house engineering staff will adapt each design to fit the site conditions specified.

All horizontal and vertical joints, usually 3/16" (5mm), are sealed with structural silicone, adding rigidity to the structure.

The same principles can be adapted and used for unique glass structures, such as all glass canopies.
